Tradition.

I remember "having" to read the Christmas story from the book of Matthew on Christmas morning, before opening gifts.
Now I respect that tradition.

I remember "having" to go around the table and say what we were thankful for, before eating Thanksgiving dinner.
Now I respect that tradition.

I remember "having" to listen to worship music on Easter morning while getting ready for church.
Now I respect that tradition.

I remember my mom coming into my room and "waking me up" singing "Rise and Shine and give God the GLORY GLORY!"
Now I respect that tradition.

I remember "having" to bow my head and pray before I ate each meal...thanking the Lord for His many blessings.
Now I respect that tradition.

I remember "having" to say thank you you each and every person who bought me a gift for Christmas or a birthday by writing them a card in my own handwriting.
Now I respect that tradition.

***
While my children might not always understand WHY Sean and I have certain traditions in our house, I hope one day they can look back and appreciate the purpose behind each one.
I know that I do.

Thank you mom and dad.
For adding purpose to tradition.
